Dance Of The Lanterns

Description

Cause "Dance Of The Jack-O-Lanterns" just doesn't sound right.

For The #AnthroCommunity Challenge #78 - "Halloween."

I wanted to stay away from creatures such as bats, wolves, rats, spiders etc. and decided to go with jack-o-lanterns. But instead of doing the usual "sticking a pumpkin head on a human body" approach, I wanted to go with something a little more unique. I actually got the idea for the designs from the "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" scene from Disney's Cinderella. It's the scene where the pumpkin for the carriage briefly comes to life, it's vines and leaves acting as legs, arms, feet, and hands.
I had fun designing the characters, especially the female lantern. I loved how her hair and dress came out. I tried to make her look as much like a female jack-o-lantern as possible. The challenge was coming up with a good dancing pose that showed movement and actually looked like dancing, especially when the dancers' bodies are nothing more than vines.
I used gouache and some watercolor for this. I used mostly browns and reds for the background to make it really feel like it was autumn. The result is surprisingly, pretty close to what I envisioned in my head(Which is very, very rare for me).
I can honestly say I'm quite proud of this pic. Although I'm sure I can do better, I really love it and it may be just one of my favorite pics. I just really love the whole fantasy feel to it and how the two main characters came out.=D Even the background came out decent(And you know how hard it is for me to come up with backgrounds).
Hope I don't sound like I'm bragging.^^;
